of the Bombers
Blocher Bombers off to the finals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's been a remarkable run for the Blocher Bombers
in the SABL this year. Getting a bye by being the Eastern
Division champions, the Bombers started the playoffs in the Conference semifinals.
A thrilling series with Richmond resulted in Blocher winning 4 games to 3. Kemp's inside
play, along with big efforts from Kenny Anderson and Eddie Jones outlasted Richmond's
muscle inside. The Conference championship pitted Blocher against Tri-City. Tri-City was
lead by vetern Clyde Drexler and young gun Stephon Marbury. Down 2-0 after the first pair
at Tri-City, Blocher went on to win 4 in a row, including 3 impressive 20 pt. wins at home
where team MVP Tyrone Hill average 19 points and 11 boards in the home stand. Now the
Bombers face a tough test in Brooklyn, although it may seem like they are playing the Utah
Jazz. Brooklyn boasts Karl Malone and his backcourt buddies Stockton and Hornacek. Pair
them up with Anthony Mason and this team will give Blocher all it's worth. Stay tuned for
updates. Go Blocher!
Tyrone Hill named MVP
Being one of only two players to play the entire
season (the other being Tony Massenburg) Tyrone Hill received the team MVP award for the
1997-98 season. Hill's defense and rebounding make him a key part to the Bombers success
this year and his offense is enough to keep teams honest against him. Look for his and
other Bomber stars' stats to be up soon!!!
Bombers win division!!!!!!!!:
The
Bombers won the SABL Eastern Division by posting a 46-36 record. This chapter of
Bomber history is a surprise considering not a single starter from last year's squad
(before the Bombers took over) remains on this year's team. Only Tyrone Hill and Tony
Massenburg were with the ball club through the whole season. With the division win, the
Bombers receive a bye and await a second round opponent. "We kept our focus all
season long and adapted as new guys came and some guys left," said the Bombers'
owner.
Bombers sign Miller
In a deal to take affect next season, the Bombers traded away
Donyell Marshall and Eldridge Recasner to Seattle for Reggie Miller
and Bimbo Coles. Miller, who will join Eddie Jones and Shawn Kemp
to provide more scoring power, brings nearly 20ppg and one of the
best three point guns in the league to the team. Coles will back up
starting point guard Kenny Anderson. Miller, who plays for the local
Indiana Pacers, will be the starting shooting guard next season,
probably moving Eddie Jones to the small forward spot.
Reggie Miller brings
his scoring ability to
the Bomber's lineup.
